Welcome !

Welcome to BSA Venturing Crew 129's new website !

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 13 and have completed the eighth grade, or age 14 through 20 years of age.

Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. Local community organizations establish a Venturing crew by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.

Venturing crews can specialize in a variety of avocation or hobby interests. Crew 129's focus is on outdoor activities and camping, to include first aid.

Avoiding cabin fever

Posted by VJKiernan on Mar 22 2020 - 9:15am

Dear Crew 129:
I hope all of you are doing well under the circumstances. To help you stave off cabin fever, our Venturing friends in the Northeast Region suggest the following activities that you can enjoy at home. Give them a try! I look forward to when we can meet again as a crew in person.

Please join me at St. Rita Catholic church on March 14, 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help with my eagle project. We will be repainting the front porch of their new building and replacing the handicap railing. Please bring work gloves if you can, and wear clothes that you aren't afraid to get paint on. The address is 232 W Glebe Rd, Alexandria, VA 22305, which is next to the Maid to Clean across the street from the main church.

Bowling this Saturday

This Saturday afternoon, the crew will go bowling. The crew will pay for the fun and food -- feel free to bring a friend or family. If you would like to go, let Mr. Kiernan know by Wednesday. We'll choose a time that works for everyone.

Pizza and bowling

Mark your calendar for pizza and bowling on February 22. The crew will pay for both the pizza and the bowling! Exact time and location still to be decided.

Sportrock is Friday night

Posted by VJKiernan on Jan 5 2020 - 3:23pm

We will have our annual Sportrock lock-in this Friday night into Saturday morning. We will be joined by about 30 Venturers from other nearby crews. It's always a lot of fun!

We need everyone in Crew 129 to turn out and help. Even if you don't want to climb and/or don't want to spend the night, we need you! We can use help in serving snacks and pizza in the evening and/or serving breakfast in the morning, and we also can use help with registration on Friday night.

Please let Mr Kiernan know when you can be there, and what you would like to do (and if you want to climb).
